Numaligarh Refinery: Assam: Numaligarh Refinery Limited files FIR on fake website in its name

Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has an FIR at a local police station and a complaint to the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting portal after a fake website was set up in the company’s name.

In a statement, NRL said that unscrupulous elements created a fake Numaligarh Refinery Limited website by replicating NRL’s genuine business website to defraud money from unsuspecting candidates for fake vacancies advertised in the career section.

“NRL filed a complaint with the Government of India’s National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and filed an FIR at the local police station to resolve the issue and catch the fraudsters. Meanwhile, the company asks everyone to be careful and not to pay money to the scam website for non-existent jobs. The fake website has a link named “Career” in the main menu of the homepage. Clicking on the link leads to the page where 3,235 fake vacancies are advertised to search candidate details and redirect them to the payment request page to earn Rs. 1,000 online transfers for their application,” said said the company.

Recently, Assam Police discovered that the Ransom cyber attack that occurred against the public sector oil company, Oil India Limited (OIL) was carried by Russian malware planted from a server in Nigeria .

Oil had filed an FIR at the Duliajan police station. The cyber attacker demanded 7500000 US dollars as a ransom through a note from the infected PC. The oil had hired an international cybersecurity expert as a consultant.
