Here is the gist of the article in video form:
New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….
The original story (published September 12, 2022) follows:
Instagram’s “link in bio” feature allows users to add a link to their bio that takes followers to their website, product page, or other important page.
In other words, “link in bio” refers to the clickable URL on their profile that takes you to an external website. Many influencers benefit from this feature as it brings huge traffic, boosts engagement and proliferates blog visitors.
But it seems that the “link in bio” function is currently buggy and does not direct visitors to the desired page or website.
Instagram “link in bio and stories” not working
@instagram why everytime i hit the link in someone’s bio it goes to http://instagram.com?!
The everyone link in the bio feature on Instagram not working for me at all? What’s up with that. This keeps bringing me to a web version of IG.
When I click on a link on Instagram from a story or bio instead of taking me where the link goes it takes me to the online version of Instagram does anyone can help me to solve this problem??
Ideally, a link in someone’s biography or story should redirect the user to their website or profile. But he still directs them to the web version of Instagram.
For some users, the links in their DM are also inaccessible. The problem might have been caused by the recent app update.
In fact, we also saw how Instagram and Facebook stories recently started auto-playing with audio muted after a new update.
Worse still, there are also instances where the link in the bios does not fully open on Android. And it works perfectly on iPhone.
No official recognition, potential workarounds
However, it’s not safe to just speculate as there’s no official acknowledgment of the issue where Instagram’s “link in bio” isn’t working.
Fortunately, there is a workaround that includes the usual removal and downloading of the app, according to a concerned user.
Another solution is to log out of the main app and log back in.
We will keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are further developments on this, so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
Update 1 (September 13, 2022)
10:22 a.m. (IST): According to one of our team members, the links in the biography and stories work well on the previous app v250.0.0.21.109 on Android.
Therefore, you can roll back to the previous version and see if the issue is resolved.
Update 2 (September 14, 2022)
4:46 p.m. (IST): Instagram app has a new update on play store with v252.0.0.17.111. Therefore, those affected can install it and see if that fixes the issue with links in biography and stories.
Update 3 (September 16, 2022)
6:49 p.m. (IST): Some users now say that uninstalling and reinstalling the app does not work for them, while others say it does. So you might have to try your luck with this workaround.
