The functionality of the IHG app and website has slowly returned after an outage of more than 48 hours due to unauthorized third party access to their systems (hacking).
The website and app went down at 9 a.m. ET Sunday, and was briefly back online between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET Monday. Reservation capacity began to return at 11:45 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
You can access IHG here.

IHG One Rewards members should now be able to book, change and cancel reservations online.
Online account access and point balances were restored a few hours ago, but searching for hotels and making or changing existing reservations was unavailable.
Chronology of failures:
- The website and app went down at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 4.
- The website and app were briefly open between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on Monday, September 5.
- IHG releases statement on hack Tuesday afternoon (September 6)
- Website and app are back online (booking functionality) at 11:30 p.m. ET Tuesday
I’m sure there will be a post-mortem from IHG on what went wrong and how someone was able to break into their systems.
We should also know soon if our private information has been disclosed or accessed by outside third parties, as IHG must disclose this information quickly under European law.
Unfortunately, companies cannot secure their systems and these hacks happen frequently.
