Beyoncé pays tribute to Vicente Fernández on her website

The homepage of Beyonce official website is a place where the Grammy Award winner wishes happy birthday and posts other notes to her famous friends. This week, in addition to wishing celebrities like Billie Eilish and Regina Hall Feliz Cumpleaños, the “Formation” singer posted a tribute to singer Vicente Fernández, who died sunday (December 12) at the age of 81.

Beyoncé posted an image of Fernández standing stoically and staring into the distance. The photo is from Fernández’s 1973 film You Camino and El Mio about a young mechanic who falls in love with the woman of his dreams. “Rest in peace, Vincente Fernández,” the message read.

Other celebrities and personalities took the time to share their condolences with Fernández’s family and the millions of grieving fans around the world.

President Joe Biden posted a tribute on the official POTUS Twitter account on Sunday evening (December 12).

“The music world has lost an icon,” he wrote. “Vicente Fernández’s music has created memories for millions of people. We send our condolences to his family and all who loved him. Vicente will be remembered for generations to come.

Country singer George Strait also posted a memory on his Twitter page.

“Sad news today,” he wrote. “We lost the incredible legendary Vicente Fernández this morning. One of my heroes. May he rest in peace and God bless and comfort his family. Hasta la Cruz Chente!!”

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias also took to Twitter to share some kind words about how important Fernández is to him.

“Today we lost someone who was with us when we celebrated life and when it felt like life was over,” he wrote. “Vicente Fernández ‘El Rey’ will be loved, missed and celebrated forever! Thank you for the impact you have had on my life.

Here are more tributes to Fernández from earlier this week.
