Mark Hamill honored by fans with hilarious website

Mark Hamill gets a lot of love from his fans, but only a handful actually create websites in his honor. A website, however, has just taken to the forefront paying tribute to the 70-year-old actor. On Wednesday morning, a fan tweeted Hamill to check out the website. The man behind Luke Skywalker was surprised to see that the domain pointed directly to his own Twitter account. The actor was thrilled with the honor, as was his Twitter fan base, which now numbers over 5 million.

The revelation came after Mark Hamill pointed out that the domain points directly to Donald Trump’s Wikipedia page. Hamill often speaks of his distaste for the former president, so he takes many opportunities to throw shade at him. Even though he tweeted ahead of the 2020 election that he was looking forward to not having to tweet about politics once Trump is removed from office, he seems to have even more political opinions these days. His political tweets seem to split his fan base in half, but he remains unapologetic about his outspoken opinions. Perhaps that’s why he mentioned in his tweet that the “MAGA crowd hate tweets” might refute the “Most Beloved Man” title.

A quick search of ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which governs who owns a web domain) shows that the website domain was just registered yesterday, but it’s not clear if the domain has was attributed for pointing to Hamill’s Twitter account. because of the actor’s tweet. The recording is also private, so we don’t know who is behind it. No one has yet come forward to take credit for owning the website.

It’s been over forty years since the release of the original star wars, and those responsible for the franchise have certainly changed over time. George Lucas is no longer at the helm of Lucasfilm and the franchise, following a sale to Disney in 2012, and rarely discusses or provides input into its current creative direction. Many of the original cast have passed away, including Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, Kenny Baker, and Dave Prowse. In this current era of Disney, however, Mark Hamill has taken on a bigger role in preserving the legacy of Lucas’ original vision and has become something of a “goodwill ambassador.” As a kind of figurehead for star wars, he helped unite fans, often speaking positively about movies and series. He recently praised Grant Feely, the kid chosen to play young Luke Skywalker in the Disney+ series Obi Wan Kenobi. He also recently opened up about his love for the oft-maligned Prequel Trilogy, which is now enjoying increasing popularity, mainly because fans now often slander the Sequel Trilogy.

Most of Hamill’s work afterstar wars never enjoyed the success of the original trilogy, but he had a very successful voice-over career, including as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and other Batman cartoon and video game properties. He has also seen a resurgence in acting roles since appearing in the Sequel Trilogy. He recently joined the cast of the highly anticipated Netflix Sand seller series, based on the classic DC comic, in which he will play Mervyn Pumpkinhead. We will see him next in Peter Atencio The machineas well as in another Netflix series, The Fall of House Ushercurrently filming.
