Chayse Primeau joins the Irish – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Official Athletics Website


SOUTH CURVE, Indiana The University of Notre Dame hockey team has added forward Chayse Primeau as a graduate transfer for the 2022-23 season.

Primeau joins the Irish after spending the past four seasons with Omaha University (NCHC). He played 117 career games with the Mavericks while scoring 29 goals and adding 43 assists for 72 points. He has scored nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in each of the past two seasons and was honored with an All-NCHC Second Team following the 2020-21 campaign.

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound native of Margate City, New Jersey, Primeau led the Mavericks in scoring after the conference-only abbreviated 2020-21 season and finished fifth on the team in 2021-22. He had two power-play goals and three wins as a senior.

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Primeau skated for the Lincoln Stars (2016-17) and Dubuque Fighting Saints (2017-18) of the USHL.

Primeau majored in business administration in Omaha and is the son of Keith and Lisa Primeau and has two brothers, Corey and Cayden, and a sister, Kylie. Keith has played more than 900 games in the NHL, while Cayden is with the Montreal organization and played 18 games in net for the Canadiens over the past three seasons. Cayden currently plays for Laval in the AHL playoffs with former Irish defenseman Tory Dello.
