Bassaleg School launches new website with help from students

One of Newport’s most popular high schools has unveiled a new website with students driving change.

The redevelopment of the Bassaleg School website coincides with the redevelopment of school facilities, funded by the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Learning Communities scheme, which is accompanied by a brand refresh following consultation with pupils, staff and school stakeholders.

Working closely with Bassaleg-based design agency Icon Creative Design, Principal Victoria Lambe said: “Bassaleg School may be the largest secondary school in Newport, but we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive and not be left behind.

“The new website not only addresses the everyday practical issues that parents and students need, but it also builds on our ‘Believe and Belong’ philosophy.

“Whether in a school, social, cultural or sporting context, our current students are delighted to be presented on the site and to actively participate in shaping the school environment.”

The new design and content has been meticulously planned over a 12 month period in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that it fully reflects the dynamic, innovative and supportive culture within the school community.

A redevelopment of Bassaleg School began earlier this year, which will see the delivery of a new teaching block and state-of-the-art facilities, the increased capacity of the school to grow by 300 pupils in 2023.
